Where does the study take place?

  • The study program takes place completely online. There is no need to be present in Lübeck.

How can I apply?

Do I meet all the required prerequisites for a successful application?

  • You can find the required prerequisites here : https://ai-master.org/requirements
  • You can upload all required documents via the university's central application portal. Afterwards, a check of the proofs will take place and it will be decided if you meet all prerequisites. There will be no prior examination.

How do I prove the language level B2 ? Do I necessarily need a TOEFL / IELTS test?

  • In order to prove the language level B2, a German Abitur is sufficient, after which the language has been taken for at least 7 years.
  • An English-language Bachelor's degree is also sufficient.
  •  Alternatively, the language level can be proven by a TOEFL / IELTS test.

When can I start my studies ?

  • The master program can be started in the summer and winter semester.

What does the study program cost?

  • There is a one-time enrollment fee of 40€. Additionally you have to pay the semester fee. This has to be paid every semester and amounts to approx. 380€.

Is it noted on the certificate that it is an online degree program?

  • After completing your studies, you will receive a Diploma Supplement. This will indicate the type of study as “online, part-time.”

Is it possible to make up for missing credits in mathematics?

No, the required 28 ECTS credits in mathematics must have been earned in the previous degree program. It is therefore not possible to make up for missing credits during the AI master's program. 

How do I find a suitable topic for my master's thesis?

You can contact professors at any time whose lectures or topics you found interesting. It may be possible to find a suitable topic through discussion.
Additionaly, there is the following platform. You are welcome to check there to see if anything suitable is available. Even if no topic fits directly, you may find a contact there who could be a good fit for you.
Another option is to write a thesis in collaboration with your employer. In this case, it is important that the university always assigns the topic and that there are supervisors from the university. So, if a research question arises and you and your employer believe it could be a potential topic for a master’s thesis, contact colleagues at the university to discuss the matter.
